Crowborough Camping and caravan club site.
Goldsmith Recreation Ground, Eridge Road, Crowborough, East Sussex, TN6 2TN.
Date of Visit: July 2012
Pitch:
3
Most pitches for tents were on a slope.  There were a number of options so we chose the tent only field.  There was plenty of room, however the whole field was very poorly drained and by the end of our trip it was very muddy.
When we packed away the tent was muddy and the groundsheet filthy.
They also have an enormous slug problem.  (not nice).

Customer service:

Booked this site through the CCC website, which was the easy part.
We were asked for an arrival time but when we arrived we had to wait over half an hour to be checked in, we would have forgiven this if we received just a brief apology - but none was offered.
I felt like they were doing us a favour just be showing us where to site.

Facilities:
6
Toilets and showers (2 blocks) were very clean.
No extra charges for showers and plenty of hot water.  Nice to see adjustable showers too.
There is a  shop on site, unfortunately we didn't use it as it was only open for an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon.  However the site is about a minutes walk from the town, where there are loads of shops.

Cleanliness:
8
Showers and the toilets are kept clean throughout the day.  Each block is closed for an hour each day for cleaning.

Views:

Nice views of the surrounding countryside if you stood at the top of the slope in the field, and if you like planes its ideal - its under the Gatwick take-off flight path.

Tranquillity:
6
Overall on a normal day/night the campsite is really quiet,
Unfortunately we were not told of the open day at the leisure centre on the weekend - which resulted in a noisy Friday night and Saturday. Also its under the Gatwick flightpath for take offs - so its noisy all day and lete into the night.

Value for money:
4
Was rather good value - but I would rather pay more and get better drainage.

Overall:
3
Disappointing - expected better of a C&C site.
